This item is not worth a penny. It is incredibly noisy. It is so loud that you can hear it ourside your home. Yes, it is 14 inches tall but the actual blowing mechanism is only 3 1/2 inches. Any regular fan would be more efficient as the actual contact surface mechanism would be greater and so would it's output. Take your money and your business elsewhere. Why is Amazon even allowing this product on it's web site?

I ordered this fan for a desk in my home office. I paid approximately $23. It arrived today. There is no assembly (a plus). The unit is compact-about 14" tall and 8 inches in diameter at its base. It's attractive; gray plastic with neat dials for oscillation and speed control easily accessible on the front. The power cord is long enough to reach down the back and to the side of my desk for the power strip on the floor. This unit was definitely designed with a professional desk in mind-and fits in well. It has 3 speeds and an option for oscillation. The lowest speed is powerful-perhaps a bit too powerful for the unit to be sitting directly in front of me. On low, it's blowing the vertical blinds that are 6 feet away from it. Still, this may come in handy for the Arizona heat and it's quite effective in cooling. The unit is vibration-free, both when still and oscillating. My sole complaint with this unit is that it is noisy. A high pitched "whirring" sound emits from the motor. The noise is far too obnoxious and intrusive at the other two settings, rendering the other two levels fairly useless. The noise is comparable to an oven hood fan (on its respective settings). I couldn't tolerate that noise all day or even for more than a few minutes. It's simply not conducive for an office environment. That's disappointing, too, especially considering that all of its other traits work to its favor and I otherwise like this fan very much. If the noise factor were fixed, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this product. It's affordable, attractive, compact, effective in cooling, and vibration free. However, as it stands, I recommend it only if the noise would not bother you.

This same unit locally at the home improvement stores is about $25 higher, plus tax of course, so the Amazon deal with free shipping, a $25 promotional deal at the time, and no tax, net price 124.95 delivered to my door saved me about $40. Ordered first week of Dec, said ETA would be after Jan 1, but actually got here much faster about 3 weeks sooner which was great. My issues with it: Replacement filters and prefilters are expensive, hopefully they last a long time. It's not very quiet flowing on med, and high speed is too noisy to use for my living room. I have to keep it set on the lowest fan speed setting to be quiet enough to live with, so at that rate it isn't moving as much air as I had hoped it could do quietly as the Quietflo name and "whisper quiet" in the description implies. It also makes an audible hum sound I can hear when it runs, and vibrates a little like the fan or motor is slightly off-balance, even on low, along with the air rushing sound. The main HEPA filter fits very loosely and when I took it out after a couple of weeks I can clearly see some traces of fine dust leaking around the edges of the filter seal. They could certainly improve that seal with little or no additional cost. Only thing that presses and holds the filter into the frame it fits in is the charcoal odor prefilter resting against it when the front grill is attached. They should have made it so the HEPA main filter is better secured and sealed. But it doesn't leak dust too bad. An OK filter for the price.

OMG! This is the crappiest fan I have ever had! So I bought mine at Fry's and after about 8 hrs of use it started to make this rickety rackety sound that was so annoying and loud I couldn't keep it on while my hubby & I were sleeping (which was the whole point of us buying it because we get so warm at night). Soleus makes the fan so it cannot be taken apart enough to look inside so all we could do was shine a flashlight inside where it sounded like the noise was coming from and didn't see a darned thing. I had recycled the box the previous day of course so I could not return it to Fry's due to their packaging policy so I contacted Soleus. They were helpful and set it up so FedEx would come by and pick up the fan (I had to come up w/ my own packing for it which wasn't each due to the fans shape/size)but I managed and then a week & a half later (yesterday) I get a new one sent from Soleus. I knew that they didn't seriously look at the fan I sent back to see what was wrong with it nor test the new one they sent me, but I kept my hopes up and tested the fan out. Worked great for all of 8 min! Then that same rickety sound came back! Unbelievable piece of crap! The funny thing is that they actually market this as a quiet fan! I have had numerous fans in my life, none of which claim to be quiet and all of them were oh so much quieter then this one. Soleus products suck A** and I would ever ever buy from them again. Luckily since they sent me a brand new one and I have the box I can now return this to Fry's and get my darned $$ back!

Though I have just been using this off & on for 3 days now, I am already un-impressed. I bought a tower fan because the regular floor fans are just so bulbous and get in the way so I do like the slimness of a tower fan better. I have used this for maybe a total of 10 hrs since I purchased it days ago and last night when I turned it on it was making this sound like one of the plastic blades had something on it or like something was loose inside. Though there are screws at the top the top or side to access the blades/inside do not come apart so there's no way to see what's going on. We never ended up being able to figure it out and now on and off the fan when on makes this mild rickety sound that's really annoying to try & sleep to and the whole purpose for the fan was to cool the room off while we sleep. I assume this as w/ the last fan will die in 6 months or less. Aren't there any non-obtrusively sized fans out there that cost under $50 that aren't pieces of crap???????

The base of the fan did not fit properly at first - had to really work at getting it on the fan without breaking the plastic. The actual fan wobbled while in use - even when on a completely flat surface. After several days of use the fan I received would stop oscillating - it would turn completely to the left, then once it completed the right turn the fan would cut off. I'd have to push it with my hand to make it start again. While this particular unit may just have been defective, I would not recommend this fan.

Bought the fan and less than a year later the rotating featured stopped working...so what are you supposed to do spend 90 bucks to ship the thing back and forth. It is loud on the higher speeds. It would be nice if their we site had trouble shooting, replacement parts...online product registration....etc. So I guess there is a value in the old brick and morter stores????

As an oscillating tower fan, the Aloha 36" does a great job. It moves a lot of air, is relatively quiet for how much air it moves, and has some nice extra features. Some of the features don't work as I would have liked, however.
Pros:
-Sleek, sexy design. Looks great.
-It moves a lot of air while not taking up much space.
-Easy assembly. You essentially only need to screw four screws into place to firmly connect the bottom plate to the tower of the fan. You'll need your own screwdriver, however, and the screws can be tricky to find in the packaging.
-Some great extra features. You can easily change the direction of the fan without lifting it off the ground, you can toggled the oscillation on and off (or in other words, the fan will rotate back and forth to blow air to different parts of the room), it has three speeds, it has a timer you can set which will turn off the fan once the time runs out (max time you can enter is 7 hours and 30 minutes, and you can only move the timer up in 30 minute increments), it has an auto speed which will adjust fan speed according to room temperature, it has some "natural wind" modes which will cause the fan to alternate between different speeds, and it has a remote control that lets you do everything you can do on the console located on the fan itself (uses two AAA batteries, not included). More on the "natural wind" modes below.
Cons
-The display while the fan is on does not turn off. As it is bright, it is annoying when I am trying to sleep. There is no way to turn the display off, or even make it dimmer, so I had to just put black tape over the display. You really don't even need to see the display anyways under most conditions.
-The instruction manual is horrible. The writers barely knew English, making it difficult to follow, not to mention very unprofessional. It also doesn't go in to depth about all the features; some stuff you have to figure out yourself. The assembly section also shows how to assemble the entire fan, which doesn't make sense considering the entire fan was already assembled for me in the packaging, save for connecting the tower of the fan to the base.
-The natural wind mode is a disappointment (more on this below).
The natural wind modes
This mode can be toggled to have the fan automatically alternate between different speeds. If you set the fan speed to low, the fan will have the following pattern: low speed for five seconds, off for five seconds, low for five seconds, off for five seconds, etc. If you set the fan speed to medium, the fan will spend 5 seconds on medium or low, another 5 seconds on the other speed (if it was low, it will be medium now), another 5 seconds on the other speed (if it was medium, it will be low now), and then 5 seconds on off. Repeat pattern indefinitely. If you set the fan speed to high, it will spend more time alternating between high, medium, and low, with those 5 seconds of no fan speed at the regular intervals. See the problem with this? It's anything but random, so it doesn't seem like natural wind. Instead of being relaxing, this natural wind mode is just jarring. I tried to sleep with this mode on, but it has such a predictable pattern that it drove me insane. It would be nice if the fan speed never went off. For example, if I set the fan speed to medium, the fan should alternate between low and medium, never going to off. When the blades stop spinning so suddenly, and then start spinning so suddenly, it's very jarring. It's anything but natural sounding or relaxing. Both wind modes are like this. In fact, both wind modes do essentially the same thing. Overall, great fan with a few minor flaws.

We bought this fan back in 2004 and love it. It runs 24/7. Even in the winter. It is enough air to cool you off but not too much to make you sick. The best feature is the temperature control. It tells you how warm it is in the room so you can keep it at a constient temp. When it cools down the fan runs on low if it gets warmer in the room the fan will run medium or high. LOVE IT!!!! Buying a new one for a different room. Hope they never stop making them.

I've tried 3 other brands, including this one with prices ranging from $10 to $60, and the most common problem is that the fin collects dust easily. One version has an air filter but that only make it worse. Moreover, the motor rod tends to dry up [with dust] after 1 year of use. I tried to lube it with grease and that only last a couple of months and the motor starts to spin slower and slower again.

I bought this fan for my cubicle desk area since the office airflow isn't all that great and sitting around a pc and monitor all day certainly keeps the air warm. This fan is small, light, and very easy to carry around. It fit nicely into a backpack to carry to the office. I was worried that the small airflow opening wouldn't provide a good air circulation but I was proven wrong when I turned it on. The max setting is relatively whisper quiet which is nice for the office area. Sitting within 1 to 5 feet of the unit you'd get a pretty good airflow (on medium or max setting). It's meant to be a desk fan so I wouldn't recommend this if you've got a large office and sitting far away from it. Plus, I don't think I'd need anything more powerful than this, otherwise you're just blowing papers around your desk. The ocillation and timer features are nice though I haven't had the need to use them often. Buttons on the top of the fan, easy and strightforward to use. Overall, a good value fan for the office.

I purchased this fan to replace another fan that I've had for years which is the exact same size (not the same brand). This fan barely creates any air movement whatsoever. When its on high I am unable to feel a breeze when only 2.5-3' away from the fan. In contrast, with my other fan that I was replacing, I could feel the breeze from that fan 10' away or better. I have no idea why someone could possibly want a fan that barely moves air, but I guess the reviewer that says he "uses it on his desk" may have found the only viable usage (1' away from one's face). Even then, its weak weak weak.

ok so i had this purifier saved in my favorites for quite awhile, the price is what held me back from buying. my new granddaughter arrived early and i decided she was going to come home to clean air, it is dusty in Nevada. i ordered the hunter 30785 air purifier and it arrived in a timely manner, the baby did not come home right away so i was busy and did not open the box right away. well when i did unpack the shiney new air purifier i was surprised NO FILTERS of any kind. Yes i checked the machine thourghly and no filters, so i got on line and ordered some hope they get here before the baby comes home if i did not need this so badly i would send it back very very disappointed

I have had sinus problems for my entire life and dust mites/dust/particulates can result in a very difficult night's sleep. We have a large bedroom with a king size bed in an older house, and I have always had trouble breathing. Until we bought this. It is hard to determine the benefit until you sleep with it. My sinuses are clear, I have stopped snoring (or so my wife tells me) and my allergies/sinus problems almost seem non-existent. That is until the next day when I return to work. So, I am buying two more, one for our living room and one for work!! In general, this unit is extremely quiet compared to other units of its type. While you can hear the fan on the highest setting, it does not have to run on the highest setting all day. Its tower design is convenient too taking up a relatively small footprint in our bedroom. We have hunter fans throughout our house and they make the best. No surprise their air purifier is such high quality as well.

I originally bought this Hunter 30785 because it was on sale and this was my first purifier. I really didn't know what to expect. I plugged it in and within minutes could smell a cleanliness in the room. The two nights I had it running while I was sleeping, I noticed I could breathe easier and my wife said I didn't snore. I returned it to the store because I wanted one with a filter that could just be cleaned instead of replaced every year for about $50. I tried the Honeywell 17000 and the Honeywell 50250 which were both True Hepa filters for about a week each and my snoring continued and the clean smell wasn't in the room. I also tried the Germ Guardian UV-C purifier and also noticed no difference. I went back to the store and bought two of the Hunter 30785 models and I am back to sleeping like a baby. I will deal with the added cost of the filters to get a quality product. And just to correct an earlier post, this purifier does come with filters.

The 30785 does not include the filters thus making it a fan only out of the box. We were shocked to find this out today and the box exterior does show pictures of the filters and does not state that they are not included. By the way the filters that are not included are expensive(about another $108.00 expense) which makes this a rather expensive unit overall.

We put it on the daytime setting during the day and it does make a good bit of noise on this setting. During the night we put it in night mode and it is very very quiet. I highly reccommend it!

I bought this product solely for providing "white noise" in my twins' nursery. During the day, when there is minimal noise in the house, I put it on the lowest or medium speed. In the evening, when the other kids are home (and bathing in the adjacent room,) I put it on the highest setting. The highest setting I'd say is like sitting next to a running vacuum cleaner. The lowest setting would be tolerable for me if I had to have an air purifier in the room all the time. Overall, they sleep much sounder since it has been in their room.... great for my intended purpose.

The Air Purifier works very well. It is quiet enough to sleep at night. 9Big Plus) Whe I first started the Ioniizer it would snap every 15-30 seconds for about 24 hours. I was ready to return it, but it now only does it Occasionally. My Unit was scratched during shipment, but I decided not to return it and have to wait for a new one. (Packing was not the best!)

I purchased 2 of these fans after reviewing other fans and comparing the prices for what you were getting. I really liked the base design because it allowed me to sit the fan over an ac vent and help push the cool air into the room. I run the fans 24-7 and they have not given me any troubles. They are light weight and easy to move. They are also very stable. I would purchase more of these fans in the future if I needed more.

A couple of years ago, I bought two of this product, Holmes fan model 1516, from Office Depot and they were fine. Then perhaps a year ago, I bought another of the same -- from I can't remember from where: either Office Depot or Amazon.com. This one was defective: the screw-on cap which holds the fan blades in place would not screw on to the post, being mismatched in size to the threads of the post (too small for them). I tried patiently and carefully over and over, to no avail. I returned that one. Just a few weeks ago, I thought I'd try again. I ordered two of the 1516 from Amazon.com. The price was good. Both were defective in exactly the manner described above, and I had to return them. I then tried Office Depot, confident of success. I ordered two of the 1516 again. No luck. Both were defective in just the same way. It was absolutely maddening. One concludes that the entire stock of this fan, everywhere, is very likely to be generally defective. If one goes a-fishing in a lake, and 5 times out of 5 reels in a three-eyed catfish, one concludes there are probably a fair number of three-eyed catfish therein.

I purchased two of these fans for my husband's studio. They join two other Holmes fans which he uses to keep the air moving, not only for personal comfort and to make the a/c more efficient, but also to help paint on his canvases dry faster. On all fronts, they perform just fine. The fans are steady and stable, they run for hours on end without overheating the motor, the other Holmes fans we own have lasted for years and keep on going, and they keep the air moving very efficiently with very little maintenance (only cleaning the blades every now and then). Both the process of assembling them and the process of running and maintaining them is simple and intuitive. They are not completely silent--especially when you have several of them running at once--there is a slight hum which is probably unavoidable and, actually, quite nice.

I got this after reading some good reviews. I found this unit to look good but thats all I can say good about it. The unit turns on and starts to heat and then shuts off. It stutters on and off but doesnt stay on long enough to heat my little bathroom I intended it for. I read the instructions over and over thinking I was missing something about the thermostat. I followed the instructions and still the same results. This heater also claims to be a 360 degree heater but I can only feel alittle heat coming straight out the front of the unit. I moved the unit to a larger room but it still worked the same and heated nothing. Also the unit has a fan only mode but that also does nothing. Even on the highest setting you can hardly feel the air.

I really like the fact that it is 360* and is not just one direction or oscillating. It just does not seem to put out enough heat to heat a whole bathroom good. I bought the first one for our living room which has a tile floor. We put it between the two recliners and it keeps the chill off. An elderly lady I care for needed a heater for the bathroom to take the chill off (she needs it 80+ degrees instead of 77). It just doesn't quite do the job for that.

I bought this heater because the description says it provides both 360 degree heating and directional heating, but that is not so. This heater only does 360 degree heating and I was duped. I've asked Amazon to replace the heater with one that operates in the manner that this one was supposed to and they basically told me I'm out of luck. I can get a refund, but they won't give me a heater of comparable value that works like this one was falsely advertised. I was on the phone with a customer service representative who said Honeywell's website also says the heater will operate directionally so it's not Amazon's problem. Great...brand new product and I'm told to deal with the manufacturer. My next move is to contact the Better Business Bureau and the Federal Trade Commission to see if they can get Amazon to stop lying to customers, update the description and give me a product that works as advertised. It must be nice to have all the money, huh Amazon? Enjoy it. It'll be the last penny you get from me.

This is a great heater, for a great price. We looked all over for this heater and AMAZON was one of the only retailers we could find in our CHILLY neck of the woods here in Western MICHIGAN. It does a great job of heating a large bedroom, and the temperature control helps to not get the room too hot which is important since we are using it to heat our nursery. We also use one in our basement which is even larger and it seems to be doing a great job in a very cold large space. Not too loud, and very easy to operate. Sturdy. Doesn't tip over. I like the 360 degree heat it throws.

Do not buy this fan if you are trying to make a room cooler in your home. I bought this and returned it after 2 days as all it did was make my apartment hotter!! It sounded good, dual action, high velocity, I figured it had to help a little bit. Boy, was I wrong!! If this fan is high velocity, I would hate to see their fans with low velocity!! All it did was circulate the hot air in the apartment and somehow make it hotter. I would not recommend this fan for purposes of cooling down a room at all!!

I have been using this item for about two months now and I have noticed a decrease in quality of this item in comparison to another Honeywell Fan I have had for 6 years. This item is not as powerful as the Honeywell HT800 Super Turbo High Performance Fan, Black which I have owned and used exclusively for 6 New England Summers. The current of air that is projected from this item on high equals about the current that comes from my old Honeywell Fan on Low. I am only comparing a single fan on this item to the single fan on my old Honeywell Fan. The size of the electric motors on this item is noticably smaller than the one on my old Honeywell Fan as well. The flexibility of this dual fan item allows for multi-directional ventilation which is nice to have when coming home to an apartment that has been closed up while I'm at work on a summer day. With one fan pointed straight up toward the ceiling and the other blowing directly on me, I can relatively quickly start to reduce the temperature of my livingroom/kitchen area. The bottom fan on this item is quieter than the top fan, but they are both pretty quiet overall. The durability of this item seems to be very good with regard to the housing and titling mechanism. I would recommend this item if you are want a fan that has flexible features, but not if you need a very powerful fan for larger rooms.

I love the idea behind this fan. Two fans (both have two speeds), the ability to independently adjust the positions of the fans. Adjustments are limited in their direction but it is still a good idea. Air output is ok but no more than ok. So, why only one star? Because I like to clean my fans. Fans get really dirty after they have been running awhile. The blades are usually covered in dust as are the protective grills surrounding them. That is why most fans are easy to take apart and put back together. NOT THIS ONE! The grills are held in place by 4 recessed screws that must be removed from the rear. I would suggest removing the screws inside a box or some sort of container that will prevent you from losing track of them as the drop out when the grill is lifted off. Once the grill has been removed you are finished removing things because the fan blades are not removable. The back portions of the grills are not removable either. So all you can do is wash the grill fronts and wipe off the rest of the parts (no easy task believe me). Now comes the really fun part. Putting the front grills back on. They have to be lined up in a very specific manner or all of the four holes will not line up with their companion holes on the grill backs. Two will line up easily but the other two won't. Keep turning the grill until all four holes line up. Once you get the holes lined up (I needed a flashlight to actually see the potential unions of the front and back grills) you have to get the screws back into the recessed holes. I suggest needle nose pliers for this part of the job. Once you get the screws into the holes you must tighten them down (no easy task when you can't see the place where the screws engage the threads. I will never attempt to take this fan apart again. I finally took it outside and used Dust Off to clean it as much as I could. If it gets really bad i will send it to Goodwill. The bottom line is that if you are fussy about cleaning your fans (as I am) this is not the fan for you.

I purchased this fan because of its blade size and footstand being an X as oppossed to a round platform. After assembly I observe that the fan is quite noisy in LO, in HI it sounds like you are at the airport standing next to a Cessna 150. Plastic base and shaft has flexibility to it and wobbles unconfidently should you touch or move it. It does not feel like a $50 fan. Unless the motor is of such lasting quality and will still run to cool me when I get to hell, I think you can do as well with one half its price.

This fan is great! Out of the box it's easy to put together, and has clear instructions. I had it together and plugged in within twenty minutes, using no tools. This fan is a champ, it moves a lot of air and the base being four pronged allows it to be placed in a lot of places the the solid round bases don't. The four prongs give it stability and they're strong enough to keep the fan from overturning. They are made from a heavy duty type of plastic. I had three fans of this type that were sixteen inches in diameter and they had four metal prongs. They made the fan very heavy and inconvenient to move. They also didn't move as much air as this one does.
Noise? Well I've used fans all my life and none of them are as quiet as an air conditioner, but the white noise is valuable to me, so it doesn't bother me. It's almost impossible for me to sleep without a fan going because I've usually got one going somewhere in the house. This one makes a little more noise than some fans and less than others. It makes less noise than a twenty inch box fan anyway, if that tells you anything, and that's on the medium setting. I haven't had to use the high setting because the medium setting does the job of a high setting on the other fans I've used over the years.
Power: This thing really moves some air. I don't know whether it's the blade shape or the number of blades but I had papers and stuff on my desk that got blown off and the fan was across the room, on a medium setting, at that. You can feel the air flow all over the room. My living room is approximately six hundred square feet. The blades are shaped differently than any I've ever seen. They are made from heavy duty plastic, very narrow and slightly curved with a slight twist. It looks like they'll be much easier to clean when the time comes. The back of the grill is plastic and the front is metal. I don't place too much importance on that kind of thing. But I thought I'd mention it in case someone wants to know. Oscillation: It oscillates well without jumping and jerking, the oscillating arc is kind of narrow, but that's okay for me, if it swung any wider it would be hard to fit in some spaces. The slightly shorter oscillating arc and the pronged feet make it fit in a lot of places other fans of it's type wouldn't fit. The prongs are slim enough to fit right under the edge of the sofa or a chsir. I can put it in the corner behind my end table or behind the sofa, and it doesn't take up floor space. The metal pole of the stand seems sturdy enough to stand up to use, and the plastic coupling to adjust the height is a heavy plastic and easy to msnipulate. The wingnut that adjust the tilt of the fan does a good job, without having to be constantly tightened. The degree of upward tilt is good but not extreme. You can't have an extreme amount of tilt with a fan this big. It oscillates smoothly when tilted to the ceiling without any lagging or strain on the motor, or strange noises. The height range of the pole is versatile. It can be adjusted until the fan is about three feet off the floor up to about five feet off the floor. I've gone through a lot of fans in thirty years and this one outdoes any other fan I've ever had. The only other fan I've run across that did such a great jon was my great grandmother's huge window fan. It was heavy metal thing that was permanently installed in a window by screws. She would turn that thing on at night and it would cool the entire house. I'never seen another one like it. Moving on. I've been using this fan for about a month now and it's performing excellently. I am still supremely satisfied and very pleased with my purchase. it was well worth the price to me.

This is a nice fan. I'm lousy at assembling things, and it me took less than 10 minutes (no tools). The fan is fairly quiet and puts out a nice breeze. The feet have a surprisingly large footprint - ~ 32" x 32" which can limit where the fan can be placed. Before purchasing, I read other reviews that commented on the flimsiness of the feet. They are not particularly sturdy, so care needs to be taken.

For its price range I have not found anything that blows this hard. I live in a hot area and go through alot of fans and this is the most power you will get for under $100. The only drawback is that you must be careful with the stand as it is brittle plastic. I was not careful when assembling and cracked a leg however, it still stands fine.

i have used this fan since 2004 and no problems. I like the remote and the power. Can't say the ionizer is much of anything but it's nice to have it. My girlfriend keep complaining that she's to cold with the fan so I guess it works.

I didnt start shopping on amazon untill last year, when i did it was the greatest thing ever. I bought anything and everything from cd's to books on amazon. Untill i bought the executive tower fan, i was pleased with everything else. It was refurbished!!!! The remote was scratched up and almost destroyed. It was a birthday present for my Fiance. I will never shop on Amazon again. The reason is, i dont have the time to repackage and unbuild the fan. People don't have extra time to do these things when we work so hard. It was embarrasing and now i have to try to find at least the remote control to buy it somewhere else. Thanks.

I bought this item two different times because when you turn the ionizer on, it gives off blue sparks from the inside. The first one we thought was maybe a defect and since we liked the way the fan part of it worked, we decided to buy another one. Lo and behold, we had the exact same problem. After about two weeks of usage, when you turn on the ionizer function, it gave off blue sparks from the inside. The first time it happened, we figured it was a glitch, but with it happening again on the second one, we are not using this product anymore.

I had an old floor fan and the motor finally died. I hadn't really paid much attention to the new generation of fans like this one. I saw some online reviews and decided that this would not only look better but would hopefully work better too. I wasnt disappointed. It takes just a few minutes and a phillips or regular screwdriver to do the job. It comes with a remote that does everything the buttons on the unit does. The remote is certainly nice to have. It would be particularly useful for anyone with physical limitations. It is very quiet and is very powerful. I would definitely recommed it.

I bought the NewAir AF-310 to avoid having to buy a second air conditioner for my apartment. I find that it pretty much lives up to the claims made. It cools the air in the immediate vicinity by probably about 10 degrees. It was very helpful until the temperatures started to rise above 90 and the humidity went thru the roof. At that point 10 degrees cooler is not enough. However, it still does help at night for sleeping. I don't know how other coolers like this work, but one awkward feature is that the water tank is not removable. This makes it hard to clean. Also the ice, whether cubes or the gel packs, melts very quickly, so you need to keep "stoking" it, to get the optimum cool from it. So bottomline, it is not an airconditioner, but it is a helpful, more portable, and cheaper option for a supplement.

Had one of those honeywell really powerful small fan before this, so I decide to compare these two.
Pros of this NewAir:
1) Quieter (won't say it is quiet when it is at high wind speed.)
2) Oscillates
3) Has a remote control
4) Has a timer
5) Definitely cooler than just fan
Cons:
1) Heavier (still pretty light)
2) More expensive ($20 vs $100)
General comment: It is pretty good for one room (smaller 250 sq ft, ideally). Definitely good enough for a bachelor who would occasionally have his girl or some friends over:) Or just want to have a cooler night to sleep.

The AF-310 Evaporative Cooling Tower Fan may work better in drier climates, but the cooling level in very hot and humid climates is very disappointing. I froze the ice pack that came with the tower and placed it in the water tank filled with ice water, as instructed, but the cooling level was no different with the ice than without. I was very hopeful when I ordered it, but a regular oscillating fan does about the same job cooling as this product. It works great as a fan, which is how I use it now and the reason I did not return it, but I would not recommend it as a cooling device for hot, humid climates.

I bought the NewAir AF-310 to cool down a very small room where I record. It's too loud to record with mic's but I knew it would be. The sound from it is about as loud as a box fan. It blows a good amount of air and the features are pretty cool. Pretty nifty little remote that works well too. The only thing is don't depend on the water evaporation to do too much in cooling the air. I filled the reservoir with cold water, ice, and the frozen block that comes with it and I couldn't tell much difference between the regular air blowing out and the "cooled" air. Overall, it works good as a fan with a timer, etc but that's about it.

The apartment I moved into didn't have a ceiling fan so I bought the Aloha Breeze for the white noise and air flow when I slept. I ran it every night for two years before it started rattling. It doesn't have a high pitch whine like the other fans I tried to replace it with, but the fan isn't ultra quiet if that's what you're looking for. The middle speed was what I used.I would've given it five stars if I could have gotten to the bearings to grease them. From the two other tower fans I've looked at as replacements, they all have similar motor casing, so eventually you'll have to replace any tower fan when the lubrication is rubbed away. I ended up replacing it with the Honeywell HY-105; it's also got a "sleep" speed that's extremely quiet.

This fan works awesome. Remote control works well for me, due to my disability. Buttons are easy to press. Puts out a good ammount of air, very quiet and I love the timer so it goes off in the middle of the night. I am not sure what "night mode" or "natural wind mode" are, seem the same to me. I wish the manual would explain that. You do have to put this fan together!! I have someone do it for me, which took about 10 minutes or less. It took so long because some of the plastic pieces would not stay in place at first. Overall, this is an awesome buy and well worth the $40.

I assembled the Aloha this morning and am very happy with it so far. The only downside was that the Graphics on the box are in Spanish I think and the instructions were probably written by an employee with ESL. You probably can assemble it by using common sense.

WOW- the price on this unit has gone up since I purchased it. I only paid 34.99- you can get this same type fan with three speeds for less at the time of this writting. I would check that out first. I saw this unit in a Target ad and was in a hurry so bought it from them. On sale it was the same as Amazon. The unit is very quiet and it only has two speeds. The high speed blows a gentle stream of air across the room. I have it placed on the opposite side of the room from my reading chair and the air is just enough to keep me cool without the distraction of having to weight down everything for fear it will blow away. I uploaded a couple of photos to show how this unit swivels. I have it tiped up every so slightly so that the bottom blows towards my feet while the upper blows a gentle breeze on my upper body. This is definatly not a high volocity wind machine, but is perfect for a small room where you need a gentle wind flow. The room I use it in faces the southwest so the afternoon sun heats up the room. I use this room for reading, so I just wanted a fan that would blow gently and this does the job perfectly. As you can see the upper fan is stationary, it only moves with the entire unit, the bottom half does rotate up and down so you can have the top blowing straight up and the bottom blowing across the room. Hope this helps. I love it. This has lowered the temperature in my apartment by 3 degrees.

This is only $39.99 at Target. The description is wrong here, it only has two settings. I'm using it to circulate air from a lower-level up the stairway to the 2nd level. It is nice and quiet but it doesn't blow as far as I need it to. The specs are only 27 feet which aren't enough for me so it's going back. Also, only one fan is capable of pivoting, the bottom one. The top fan can't pivot but because the whole unit pivots I guess that is why the description says they both pivot. If you want a quiet fan this is the one but it is not for large spaces.

This fan is very quiet, accordingly it is not overly powerful. What makes this fan a keeper is it's ability to swivel so one fan is facing upward while the other fan is facing horizontally. This is great for circulating the cool air on the floor to the ceiling to give you a more even temperature through the apartment. I live in an old building where the heating and cooling is not very even and this fan works wonders for me. Prior to owning this fan there was at least a 5 degree temperature difference between my bedroom and my living room, no more!The fan isn't for everyone but if you want a fan you can leave on most of the time without causing any great disturbance I would say this one is a great choice.

Note: I did buy this fan elsewhere for about 1/5 less.

I bought this thinking it would be a decently powerful fan for the $50 it cost, but I was pretty underwhelmed. Claims to circulate air 27 feet, although once I was more than 10 feet away I couldn't feel it anymore, and that's with both fans on high. Can't imagine this works much better than a cheap nine-inch fan. Returned after a week.

Great for the bedroom or office, it's quiet it oscillates and it's super small. Low speed has good airflow and little noise while high speed puts out a lot more air but not much more noise. It's really light so hang on to it when you push buttons.

For a very affordable price, it moves a lot of air, takes up little space and doesn't make much noise. It's great for an office or sitting on a table near you.Quibbles: I would have loved a remote, but then it would have cost more. You start and stop the fan by pushing the button on the front, but it doesn't weigh enough for that to work. You will push it over. So you have to reach around the body of the fan to hold it while you push the button. Like I said: quibbles.

It's the tall, silent type, except it's not overly tall at about 12 inches or so in height.Quiet, good looking, powerful, takes up minimal space, and just an extremely well-designed and engineered product. It also can "oscilate" or swings back and forth slowly if you want it to. Nice going Lasko.So quiet, on the "low" speed it's hard to hear that it is even on.My only small complaint is that the indicator lights that show t is on are kind of brght if it's in your bedroom and all the lights are out, but I just put a small piece of tape on the switch light to tone down the brightness.
